In the rubbish

We had an interesting experience tonight which I just HAD to share.

Scarlett is a very fussy eater. I have tried so hard to make healthy food seem interesting... even tried hiding veges. I really worry about what she is not consuming and thought it was about time to put my foot down and give the little miss some choices.

To begin with I chose a piece of carrot for her to eat. The consequence would be Thomas the tank engine trains go in the bin.

She pretended to have a little munch but would not touch it.

Nick went and got the trains and held them above the bin. "Scarlett, how will you feel when these go in the bin?" "I will cry"

She still wouldn't eat it.

The trains went in the bin.

I found a bit of potato because I thought she might like that better.

She wouldn't eat that either. Nick went and got cranky crane and in the bin he went.

Still no potato in the mouth

Next was LuLu and Flattie.

First LuLu went in the bin and Flattie was on the way...... in went the potato.....

Chew.......gag...... and spit!

I had to turn my head and laughed!!!! .....So funny!!!!

Because she put it in her mouth and had a go at eating it, we took all the toys out of the bin.

Before bed Scarlett asked Nick if all the toys were out of the bin..... a bit worried that they were still in there!

I'll keep trying but am hoping that one day her tastes will suddenly change. I can't believe she gagged on some yummy veges!! She looked like she was going to throw up!

Oh that's a 'fun' stage! Keep it up - she will eventually get used to the taste and you wont have such a hassle. I read or heard somewhere that kids have heaps more tastebuds than adults and that is why things seem to taste so awful to them. With Jalen I kind of gave up on him and he is the fussiest eater now - he knows he has to try a little of everything on his plate, but he isn't keen. Harri on the other hand has just had to eat everything and he is not fussy at all.

That is a funny story. I love that she is so into Thomas. Charlie also loves Thomas so I can relate to this story very well. We also have to threaten him to eat.

jasmine went through that stage at about 2 and would only eat banana and bread! I was really frustrated and she would gag or scream at vegetables. She wouldnt eat meat, although occasionally would chew up a sausage at a bbq. Try making some yum hamburgers with lean mince and grate in some vegetables, you can also add grated cheese if you bake them in the oven (they dont bbq well as the cheese burns). Goodluck there is light at the end, jasmine is 11 and eats everything now, except sushi!! which the rest of us all love. I know it is frustrating, but as Lisa said it will pass. take care
