Day 3

As you might imagine I haven't blogged since starting the detox because I've been feeling so crappy. I chose a program that includes food because I didn't think I could handle going without it!! I have cut out sugar, dairy, meat and refined wheat. The first few days my body ached like crazy, but I started feeling a lot better today. Oh... did I mention that Nick is doing this with me?) He wanted chocolate so badly today!!!! I am trying imagine the light at the end of the tunnel... the new phone I got yesterday took my mind yummy sugary food for an hour or so! Don't know how you did the liquid detox Chels!! And Michelle W, Do you have a blog? How do I check it out?

We had our soccer break up on Saturday. A lovely BBQ and chat. Some really cleaver girls made all of us quirky awards... they were so cool!

This is my Stegosaurus Award. Apparently I was remembered this season for turning my back on the other players and holding the ball. Worked really well!!
Here is the angel award for our captain

Yep... thats a Gatorade and a catapault(for awesome throw ins!)

Hot spice and brick wall awards

Last link...can't quite remember some of them

Tigger award

All the girls are awesome and were such fun to play with this year!

What have we been up to?

Nick's uncle Graham (Pa's brother) and Aunty Betty came for a visit from New Zealand . I had never met them and Nick hadn't seen his uncle in 20 years! Scarlett and Ollie had a lovely time with Betty. If you look closely you can see Ollie's car (he's sitting in it)... or maybe it's an airoplane!!

Scarlett had such a wonderful time sticking these letters into her new book. Thank you Gaga!!! We couldn't find a T for Thomas though!

And finally.... I have been doing a little sewing. The inspiration came when the weather suddenly changed (hot) and I started to think about children's clothing. I wish I got a new wardrobe every season!!! Anyway... I had to rack my brains on how I could save money and this is what I came up with.. Jammies. I made the bottoms out of some left over fabric I had laying around and the top was $4 from Target! I've almost finished another pair too. Sorry the pic is not great!

I love babushka dolls and have a little collection. These were a little gift from Puddy a few months ago. Aren't they cute?

In the rubbish

We had an interesting experience tonight which I just HAD to share.

Scarlett is a very fussy eater. I have tried so hard to make healthy food seem interesting... even tried hiding veges. I really worry about what she is not consuming and thought it was about time to put my foot down and give the little miss some choices.

To begin with I chose a piece of carrot for her to eat. The consequence would be Thomas the tank engine trains go in the bin.

She pretended to have a little munch but would not touch it.

Nick went and got the trains and held them above the bin. "Scarlett, how will you feel when these go in the bin?" "I will cry"

She still wouldn't eat it.

The trains went in the bin.

I found a bit of potato because I thought she might like that better.

She wouldn't eat that either. Nick went and got cranky crane and in the bin he went.

Still no potato in the mouth

Next was LuLu and Flattie.

First LuLu went in the bin and Flattie was on the way...... in went the potato.....

Chew.......gag...... and spit!

I had to turn my head and laughed!!!! .....So funny!!!!

Because she put it in her mouth and had a go at eating it, we took all the toys out of the bin.

Before bed Scarlett asked Nick if all the toys were out of the bin..... a bit worried that they were still in there!

I'll keep trying but am hoping that one day her tastes will suddenly change. I can't believe she gagged on some yummy veges!! She looked like she was going to throw up!

birthday's and the hair do

I've been really photogenic lately!!! Those of you who know me well know that this is not a common occurrence!! Check out my hair... I love the feeling of a hair cut and colour. I can't afford to go to the hairdresser for another 12 months now... not that one anyway! They did such a great job though. This afternoon Scarlett made me a birthday cake out of play dough.. I also got sung happy birthday. Can you see the candle? She is obsessed with birthdays at the momen and can't wait for hers... she knows it's in December... Cleaver girl! (She just doesn't know how far away December is!) Oh... She cut the fringe a bit short... thats the only thing and I'm very tired right now....

Gluten Free

Check out some of the wonderful gluten free stuff you can buy now. I have been avoiding wheat and dairy for a long time now.( I do have times of weekness though!) You can buy really yummy cake and cupcake mixes in the health food section at the supermarket. They have also made a gluten free pasta which tastes like the real thing! For all of you that want to eat less wheat or cut it completely, give them a try. Note: the cupcakes have little finger marks in all of them where scarlett has been picking off the chocolate!!!

My week.... has been great so far. I decided not to work on Monday. I had a contract for Mon's and Thursdays at Cavandish Road State High School for the last 4 weeks. It was actually working in the Special Education Unit... I don't teach high school and never will!! Nick decided to get sick on the weekend and has been cough, cough, coughing ever since. Today we had playgroup and tomorrow is special because ....... I AM GETTING MY HAIR DONE!!!!! I will then decide whether I want to work on Thursday.....hmmmm.... what do you think, spend the day with the kids bumming around or earn $290 for a days work???? Yeah, relief teaching is really good money!
